Speaking of day-by-day activities, every day at noon the pool boy at Bora Bora Resort and Thlaasso Spa does fun, hands-on demonstrations:

Monday: Tahitian marinated fish demonstration and tasting
Tuesday: Palm tree hand craft demonstration
Wednesday: Pareo show
Thursday: Coconut show (until you've seen it you can't believe how entertaining and interesting it is)
Friday: How to use a racing canoe
Saturday: Palm tree hand craft demonstration
Sunday: Flower necklace, crown and poe making.

There is also a daily ray feeding at the lagoon by the wedding chapel.

Remember that guests can take the free 15-minute shuttle between our sister resorts on Bora Bora to take advantage of the services and activities at both hotels. You can find a copy of the shuttle schedule on the Sales Tools page too.

What's To Do on Moorea?

If you have clients who will be staying with us at InterContinental Moorea Resort and Spa be sure to tell them about these activities, shopping and dining options around the island. (If they haven't yet made the decision to go, maybe this will help!)

Some activities...

*An ATV tour of the island interior crossing pineapple fields, lush scenery and panoramic views of the island, especially from Belvedere Point. The Moorea pineapple is the most delicious I have tasted. It is small, beautifully sweet and only available on Moorea and the other islands; it does not export.

* Aquablue is the perfect way to explore the underwater world. You do not need to be a good swimmer...just enjoy walking underwater in the middle of tropical fish and stingrays wearing an old-fashioned helmet. Yes, there is an air feed to the helmet.

*Parasailing (and what could be a better way to get the best aerial view of Moorea?)

Shopping...

*Le Petit Village shopping centre is about 1 mile from the hotel and walkable. There are local artifacts and pearl shops, a cafe and restaurant.

*I bought a beautiful small octopus carved from bone at Atelier du Chat, just 5 minutes from the hotel. There are also many other crafts available and Bruno is the artist.

*The place for mother of pearl jewellery is Le Fare de la Nacre. The designer has won several local craftsman art contests and it is the perfect shop for original local jewellery.

Now to food!

*A fun place to try and not far from the hotel, is Coco d'ile. It is very local with sand on the floor and
dishes to try are the fresh tuna tartare, or a skewer of local Moorea shrimp.

*A good local place for lunch is Snack Mahana. It is 15 minutes from the hotel and by the lagoon and the place to enjoy tasty local fish dishes.

*Of course, our Moorea hotel also has three excellent dining choices and the food is very good. The Polynesia dinner shows can be enjoyed 3 times per week, on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.

InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa #37 of World's Top 100 Hotels

The Travel + Leisure 2011 World's Best Awards have been published, and we are thrilled (okay, we're ecstatic) that InterContinental Bora Bora Resort and Thalasso Spa has been voted #37 of the Top 100 Hotels in the World. With a total score of 93.56, the resort comes in at #2 in the Australia/New Zealand/South Pacific Region.

Readers of Travel + Leisure were given an opportunity to vote for their favorite properties over a four-month period beginning in December, 2010. The short list of 100 hotels is culled from a selection of thousands worldwide and represents the hotels that offer, "...special access, noteworthy amenities, above-and-beyond service, and authenticity of place."

This coveted award comes on the heels of Thalasso's World's Best Service Award from Travel + Leisure in June. Readers gave the resort an impressive score of 93.33 this year; we were also honored with a Best Service award in 2010 with a score of 90.63.

More Good News: Weddings for Visitors Now Legal in Tahiti

The June 2011 issue of TravelAge West carries the news destination wedding specialists been waiting for: visitors to Tahiti can now be legally married there. Gone are the days when couples have to establish a 30-day residency in Tahiti before they can tie the knot. Look closely at the cover...that happy married couple is shown leaving the Blue Lagoon Chapel at the InterContinental Bora Bora Resort and Thalasso Spa. (The article is well worth a read as it outlines the requirements for legal weddings and is full of information about becoming a Tahiti wedding specialist.)

For the second year in a row readers of Travel + Leisure Magazine have voted InterContinental Bora Bora Resort and Thalasso Spa among the top five hotels for service in Australia/New Zealand/South Pacific. In the 2011 World's Best Service Awards, the resort scored a very impressive 93.33 - up from 90.63 last year.
